Sleeping Too Much Or Not Sleeping Enough
It doesn't matter if you are sleeping too much or you aren't sleeping enough -- if you do one or the other, you could feel like a zombie the next morning.
It's pretty clear why you would be sleep deprived if you don't get enough sleep each night -- because you are literally not getting enough sleep. However, if you are sleeping too much, and especially if you are hitting the snooze button over and over again, you could end up feeling groggy and tired, which, of course, defeats the purpose of trying to get that extra sleep in.
Instead of hitting the snooze button every morning, try going to bed at the same time every night and waking up at the same time every morning. Life is all about consistency, and the consistency factor certainly comes into play when we are talking about a sleep.
Playing With Technology
Are you messing with technology before you go to bed? This is a bad habit for so many different reasons. For starters, it could lead to you tossing and turning the entire night.
Next up, people need a proper wind down. If they are working from the moment they get up until the moment their heads hit the pillows, then they are never going to feel recharged and refreshed. What does this lead to, one might be wondering? Well, it could lead to you feeling overwhelmed at the office, it could affect your relationships and it could also lead to you hating your job.
If you have a proper wind down each night, one that hopefully consists of no technology and no work, you will feel recharged and motivated every single day, which could lead to a massive amount of success.
Also, if you sleep with your phone next to you and alerts are going off throughout the night, then how do you expect to stay asleep?
Not Incorporating A Ritual At All
One of the worst bedtime rituals you can have is not having a ritual at all. So many successful people follow the same morning routine and schedule every single day, but not everyone is including a bedtime ritual.
Reminder, there are only 24 hours in the day, and it is important to get the most out of every single hour. If you are feeling tired and groggy on a daily basis, it could be because of your sleep schedule, or lack of one. And by all means, if you need to pencil in nap periods throughout the day, then do so. Sleep is so important when it comes to your success. Without it, you are not going to be on top of your game.
Your bedtime ritual could consist of a number of different things, such as reading, spending quality time with the family, etc, or it could be something as simple as brushing your teeth, reflecting on the day and then wandering off into sleep land. Nonetheless, not having a bedtime ritual is a terrible habit that you need to break.
